About company

The Gin and Tonic has been the Polo Players’ choice of refreshment for over 150 years. British Officers were the first people to mix gin with their tonic ration in the mid 1800s. The same Officers were the first British men to play polo, in India in 1859; hence the creation of British Polo Gin, whose roots and provenance are inextricably connected with the sport of yesteryear and today.

With gin an already a busy market, British Polo Gin knew that their gins had to be different, and different for the right reasons. Both of their botanical, sloe, classic and strawberry & rose gins are 100% organic, distilled in small batch releases of just 300 bottles per distillation and is quadruple distilled. Producing multi award winning 100% organic gins certified by the soil association alongside being vegan friendly/gluten-free is highly unusual and something that they’re exceedingly proud of. This twinned with polo provenance means that British Polo Gin is fast becoming a favourite amongst gin lovers. A highlight of the BPG stable is their Botanical gin which was the only gin to win three stars at the 2018 Great Taste Awards.

Hand crafted in a wood-fuelled small batch still and meticulously crafted deep in the Cotswolds, their gins are as pure as can be.

The company was founded in June 2016 by professional polo player, Rich Hine. Rich subsequently sold his best polo horses to fund the start up of British Polo Gin and is still in charge of the day to day running on British Polo Gin
