Mara® Seaweed’s mission is to “Nourish Body & Soul” by harnessing goodness from the seas around Scotland and Ireland.

Mara® (‘the sea’ in Gaelic) was founded in 2011 by Fiona Houston and Xa Milne to bring Scotland’s forgotten superfood back into modern diets. Seaweed is rich in nutrients like iodine, potassium, magnesium and fibre. Mara®’s seaweed seasonings are designed to offer new tastes, natural flavour enhancement, and essential everyday nutrition.

Mara® hand-harvests wild seaweed locally, seasonally and sustainably under License from The Crown Estate. With a fully accredited sea-to-shelf seaweed production facility in Edinburgh, Mara® is now the UK’s leading seaweed brand. Our award-winning range of seasoning is Organic and Vegan certified.
