About company

Furleigh Estate is owned and run by Ian Edwards and Rebecca Hansford, with Ian being the Furleigh winemaker. Ian is a graduate of the Wine Studies course at Plumpton College, part of Brighton University. From the start they took advice from a leading Champagne maker from Epernay, France.

Our History
Set in the unbelievably romantic English countryside, Furleigh Estate was originally a dairy farm and the childhood home of Rebecca Hansford. Rebecca and her husband Ian purchased the farm in 2005 and slowly and meticulously turned it into the world-class vineyard and winery it is today.

Our Vines
Each one chosen and tended with great care, the vines at Furleigh Estate are predominantly Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. These are used to produce our classic sparkling wines. We believe it is important that we know exactly how the vine producing the grapes that go into our wine has been tended. Therefore we only use fruit from our own vines to make our wine – we do not buy in any fruit from elsewhere.

Our Wine-making
We make are sparkling wines at Furleigh Estate using the traditional method. Bottle-fermentation using Champagne yeast then ageing in the bottle for several years, giving time to develop the finesse we strive for. Furleigh Estate owner and wine-maker, Ian Edwards is able to ensure that every decision taken in the winery is in pursuit of the very best quality in the glass.
