Bangkok, Thailand

The Great British Food Programme, in collaboration with Dynasty Food Products and Central Food Hall, are setting up a dedicated ‘Great British Food Festival’ in-store promotion in the cities of Bangkok and Pattaya.

The opportunity

Taking place just after the Chinese New Year in February 2021, the Great British Food Festival promotion will launch during various public holidays which are renowned for high consumer spending. 30 British brands will each be given the opportunity to launch up to six products across six participating high-end retail stores.

Central Food Hall, Thailand’s award-winning retailer, will be dedicating shelf space and large sections of its stores to tasting stations and prominent British branding that will give UK brands the best chance of success in the Thai market.

The application and selection process

UK food and drink businesses with an interest in entering or growing their footprint in the Thai market are invited to put forward their product range for selection.

To apply, your business will need to meet the following minimum requirements:

• A UK-based food or beverages manufacturer.

• Must hold a UK company registration number.

• Operating for at least 2 years prior to July 2020.

• Business revenue of a minimum of £500k.

Upon application, Dynasty Food Products, a trusted importer and distributor connected with all of Thailand’s major supermarkets, will work closely with the Central Food Hall team to qualify and select the British brands that they believe will gain the most traction in market.

All qualifying stock will be agreed and purchased from each UK supplier by Dynasty Food Products, before being shipped to Thailand to feature in the Great British Food Festival promotion.

Any UK business selected to take part in this promotion will be asked to pay a participation fee of £650 to cover in-market costs, support and promotion from the Great British Food Programme and Department for International Trade teams.

Regulation and logistics

Dynasty Food Products have in-depth market knowledge and will complete all regulatory documentation and registrations. Currently, Dynasty Food Products have consolidated shipments departing the UK to Bangkok once a month, it is expected that all selected companies would be part of this shipment process unless otherwise stated.

Why export to Thailand?

With over 5,200 British SMEs and large corporations already exporting to the Thai market, it is the perfect place to kick-start your company’s exports in South East Asia.

With consistently low inflation and unemployment figures, the Thai economy is growing year-on-year leading to an increase in population spending power that favours UK exporters.
